The Software Product Manager will ensure the success of Ingenico’s software product by providing the right product, done right and managed right. This person will be comfortable speaking to both clients and developers in their own terms by understanding the product from the Retail client’s point of view and ensuring effective communication and motivation of development team members. The software product manager will also measure attributes of product and project success and assign KPI’s to ensure the efforts are driving towards successfully delivering a quality product.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

Lead the input and participate in the development of a fully integrated software product roadmap (including go-to-market strategy) for all terminal software, value-added software, terminal estate management software, gateway and platforms for the US market.

Support the creation of business justifications, product strategy, pricing strategy, financial and transaction based forecasts for all US software products.

Work with key business stakeholders to prioritize and sequence acquiring / processor partner certifications for all terminal and value added software, along with regional gateway(s

Manage the certification process with acquiring and other partners to ensure timely go-to-market for all products, solutions and services.

Manage the creation of business justifications, product strategy, pricing strategy, financial and transaction based forecasts for all US software products.

Create, validate and prioritize product and business requirements based on market analysis, business strategy and customer needs in the selected markets.

Manage the creation of all related MRDs and PRDs to aid the product development lifecycle.

Closely monitor market trends, card brand programs, regulatory programs, competitor activities and synthesize into recommendations and action plans.

Works closely with development teams to review enhancement requests for strategic value and align resources to high priority project.

Identify market opportunities that protect and extend competitive differentiators and provide recommendations and plan to improve current software features where needed.

Lead technical and non-technical cross-functional teams through software product planning, development, test planning and product release.

Work with the Head of Product, Software to help drive the product vision and value proposition both internal and externally.

Identify and recommend software product opportunities consistent with regional product objectives.

Support the product lifecycle activities around declining and sunset phases in the software product offerings.

Serve as a primary point of contact between the product software group and the hardware product group, solutions product group, engineering, sales, marketing and other key internal and external stakeholders.

Works closely with development teams to review enhancement requests for strategic value and align resources to high priority project.

Provides roadmap presentations to clients during business reviews, prospect briefings, and internal group meetings.

Competencies / Skills Requirements:

In-depth knowledge and understanding of payments acceptance technologies (EMV, NFC), payment security standards (P2PE, PCI) and the US & Canadian payment markets

Experience working with Payment Card Processor and Payment Gateway technologies and interfaces

Experience with Independent Software Developers and Point of Sales systems

Experience working with Agile/XP/Scrum methodologies

Strong customer facing and presentation skills

Have a passion and appreciation for all things within the payments space, including the latest innovations and market trends with an ability to translate these into functional product requirements

Able to supply examples and at least one sample of an effective requirements document and project delivered in the past

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements:

Required Education / Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, computer science or engineering; MBA a plus

minimum of 4 years of experience in a product related role with a B2B technology-centric company

Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to see beyond short terms needs and asks

Demonstrated success defining and launching products and solutions

Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority including being able to be analytical and fact-based when necessary to defend product roadmap decisions

Flexible and creative thinker able to craft solutions to business opportunities.

Experience with, and a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft office (primarily Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Experience with project and process management systems including MS Projects, Confluence, JIRA or equivalent.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout 75% of the day. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. This position requires the constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator; copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with both internal and external clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment.


30% travel is expected for this position.
