is recruiting for a OEM Product Manager (CTCT)
to fill an opportunity in Dayton, OH.
The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
The product manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of products within the Construction Industry from concept to obsolesce. Success is measured by revenue growth, market position, and profitability. Some of the resources to be used in achieving the success goals will be owned by the product manager, others will not be owned. Ultimate success in the position will be determined by the individual's ability to intimately understand the product's environment, articulate objectives that lead to success, and harness the wider Trimble and Caterpillar organizations.
Key responsibility is product ownership
. As such the incumbent will:
be the key contact point for decisions regarding product content
proactively work with engineering, operations and product support groups
eliminate organizational paralysis
escalate issues when appropriate to the industry manager
Preparation of user requirements and feature definition used for product development
Identifying required product structure and cost targets for bills of material
Developing initial product forecasts for project justification and maintaining these forecasts throughout the life of the product
Forecasting new parts/kits needed for CTCT development and validation (internal use and validation, not production forecasts)
Creates and owns detailed product definition plans after project approval
Reviewing functional specifications
Work with Trimble Operations to insure timely creation of new part numbers through Agile and Oracle
Analyzing competitive products, develop and understand competitive positioning
Preparation of appropriate marketing materials
Facilitation of sales and support training
Assisting CTCT product support and engineering to troubleshoot field issues where needed
Financial reporting (cost of goods, gross margins, average selling price)
Ensuring quality monitoring and reporting is to specified levels
Create and manage release features and testing documentation for communication to OEMs and dealers
Interact with personnel at OEM locations from various departments such as engineering, marketing, sales, training and support

The product manager works closely with Trimble to gather requirements and generate concepts for requested new features or products.

Education / Experience
Experience with Earthmoving Grade Control Systems
Ideally, 5 years’ experience in the Earthmoving/Construction industry, in marketing or project management
BS in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
