Description:

Socrata helps governments use data more strategically and effectively in the design and delivery of their programs and missions. Our data platform and cloud-based solutions support the world’s most ambitious data programs at every level of government. Our customers include the US Federal Government; half of the US states and most major US cities and counties.

We are looking for a world-class Senior Product Manager with broad technical skills, a strong analytical background and prior experience with database management tools to drive the end-to-end experience for our data-as-a-service platform. Areas of responsibility include data architecture, data ingress & automation, platform security, APIs and developer tools.

What You’ll be Doing

You will be responsible for defining and executing a product roadmap based on a strong understanding of customer needs, market and technical trends, and the competitive landscape. You will define what success looks like for the data platform and aligning our product development organizations around achieving those results. You will have executive visibility and be accountable to the Senior Leadership Team for achieving those results.

Successful candidates have a proven track record of driving structure out of ambiguity, driving organization-wide alignment between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and navigating at both a strategic and tactical level to move projects forward. Your foundation as a product manager allows you to anticipate points of friction in the product development process and develop the user scenarios, product specifications and team rituals to prevent them.

You Have…

4 years of technology product management experience.

Serious data and analytical skills. Strong product intuition is important, but the ability to validate that intuition with product, market and customer data is critical.

Technical chops. You must be able to influence and motivate talented and brilliant engineers.

Indirect leadership skills. Effectiveness in this role requires you to communicate a vision and drive multiple teams toward execution without direct authority.

Outstanding communication skills. You are clear, concise, and, at times, inspiring in written and verbal communication.

Excellent project management skills. Coming up with the ideas means little if we can’t effectively organize the team around implementing them.

Passion for helping governments lead with data. Our business is about giving public servants the tools they need to serve their communities.
