JOB SCOPE: Manage sourcing and vendor relationships for Sears Home Improvement Products to achieve Sears Home Improvement Products revenue and profit for designated product lines with up to approximately $200M - $350M in revenue and $30M - $45M Cost of Goods.
JOB SUMMARY: The Product Manager is responsible for assisting in selecting and managing the ongoing sourcing/vendor relationships for Sears Home Improvement Products (and Licensees, as appropriate) managing product margin expectation (price/value), increasing market penetration, monitoring competitive and positioning strategies and working with the Direct Response team on promotional strategy tests which reduce ad/sales ratio.
Leads strategic sourcing efforts on behalf of the company owned businesses and licensees to improve overall product quality,
develop product uniqueness/exclusivity, reduce overall product cost, improve level of vendor support (marketing, field support,
warranty, service levels, etc.)
Leads company (licensee as appropriate) wide efforts to define a differentiated product offer (through monitoring of customer
needs) and rationalizing the product line through strategic sourcing efforts
Analyzes pertinent business statistics and information critical to maximizing revenue growth profit potential (margin) and
heightening customer service levels
Develops and monitors results of national and local market pricing strategies, makes adjustments as necessary to improve price/
value to our customers with consideration of target margin
Develops the product unique selling proposition and leads cross functional efforts to ensure proper execution and creating sources
for ongoing monitoring of customer expectations and company and competitive delivery against expectations
Develops field support tools, reference guides and sales support initiatives (with negotiated assistance/ funding from product
partners) to improve overall product knowledge of sales team, improve close ratio (gross and net) and average ticket (combos/
product line extensions) and customer comfort level with the buying decision
Works with Direct Marketing team to coordinate activities across all segments, analyze results of various promotional tests and
implements as appropriate
Manages product distribution strategy (supply center vs. company owned warehouse, inventory, etc.) and sets cycle time metrics
(i.e. improvement in backlog, installer productivity, ROI on inventory).
5-10 years of related experience
Up to 25% travel
18 years of age or older
Solid Marketing/ Financial/ Operations background
Experience in negotiation
Project management skills
Strong analytical skill-set
Computer literate with moderate to expert knowledge of Excel, Word and other Windows based software
Sourcing / new product/ vendor management experience
