We are currently looking for a “hands on” Technical Manager who will be responsible for leading product development projects, including formulation, testing, and scale-up of proprietary lubricants. Products must be developed in a timely manner that will permit their evaluation, qualification, and implementation by Henkel customers. The main lubricant applications include casting, forging, forming and machining & grinding.

What we offer

Oversees new product development projects, establishes and implements a strategy consistent with defined business plan, reports on R&D activities and provides technical support to internal and external customers.

Management of the small team of 3-4 chemists / technicians.

Actively works on projects in the lab as needed.

Provides technical support services to manufacturing and quality as required.

Assures all R&D laboratory work is carried out in a safe manner including employees wearing personal protective equipment, training on safety practices.

Ensures compliance with 5S and TS 16949 policies and procedures.

Acts as the principal technical resource for product development in the lubricants technical cluster in North America. 

Interfaces with a variety of customers and managers located internally and externally.

Assures all new products meet international chemical health and safety requirements.

Acts as a technical liaison with other development groups.','!*!Who we are looking for

BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or other relevant technical field, with a background in lubricant applications. Graduate or PhD degree preferred.

5-10 years technical experience in the development of semi-synthetic formulations used in machining & grinding applications. Experience in hot forging, cold forming, stamping or high pressure die casting a plus.

Experience with industry standard tribology equipment required.

Experience developing and commercialization of related products required.

Extensive experience in visiting, dealing with and presenting to customers.

Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills.

Effective presentation skills with experience at presenting to top management, customers and public groups.

Excellent problem solving skills.
