Job Overview: The Manager of Product Management - Credit Initiatives, helps define a product vision that will allow Macy's, Inc. customers to shop with, and service, their credit card account seamlessly and easily across every sales channel. The Manager of Product Management is responsible for managing a team of product managers that build business cases for, define, drive, and hindsight enterprise-wide product features and capabilities in an effort to optimize ROI and deliver a frictionless and connected customer experience. Essential Functions: The Manager of Product Management's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Enterprise Product Capability Oversight (30%) • Constantly question and clarify the cross-functional implications of all product decisions and ensure that critical business issues are surfaced and considered across the enterprise: digital/e-commerce, call center agent desktop, call center phone director and store point-of-sale. • Serve as a leading voice of the customer and act as a customer experience advocate in considering product decisions that will impact the customer across all selling channels and touch points. • Ensure that product specifications meet high standards and business goals for quality before approval and launch. • Champion a point-of-view to leadership regarding the relative importance of various enterprise initiatives that are ready to move to the development phase. • Guide product managers to ensure the product specifications are well understood by engineering in both an agile and waterfall development methodology. • Support team members as they provide product requirements clarification and reply to implementation considerations raised by the development team. • Lead Product Management efforts in developing and implementing scalable processes and/or tools to enable functional productivity to advance a better credit experience. People Leadership (40%) • Actively collaborate with and influence engineering and program peers to ensure connected and aligned enterprise credit roadmap and delivery strategy. • Coach five to six Product Managers as they respond to project escalations with an assessment of the business implications of changes to project scope, timeline, or resources. • Develop, lead and inspire Product Managers each responsible for defining and delivering the enterprise credit product capability roadmap. • Create and foster career development and growth paths for team members in alignment with company, product and personal objectives. • Create clear and measurable goals and objectives for the team related to the creation and enhancement of timely, high-quality products that support critical business objectives, requirements change management, and partnership with cross-functional teams. • Raise awareness of team's plans, insights and accomplishments in order to facilitate cooperation across departments and to build a highly performing, highly motivated team. • Assist direct reports with ongoing prioritization and resource allocation to ensure that the crucial business initiatives are delivered. • Hiring, retention, and succession planning. Executive Stakeholder Management: (30%) • Support senior leadership as the single point of contact for credit-related initiatives and champion a strong pov for enterprise-wide credit strategy and customer experience improvement. • Lead teams in partnering with key business stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and strategy team members to develop clear and complete opportunity assessments and business requirements and present to senior management the information necessary to make informed approval, prioritization and tradeoff decisions. • Ensure that all relevant parties and key stakeholders are informed of product status from concept through launch. • Communicate key product metrics to executive leadership team and report out formally monthly and quarterly on kpi-health, backlog and roadmap. • Develop and maintain relationships with key business owners and senior management. Qualifications: Education/Experience: • 5 -7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: product marketing, product/program management, business development, management consulting desired, but not required. • 3-5 years of experience managing direct reports. • Experience with data governance and standards. • Credit Card/Banking and Retail experience highly desirable. • Usability and customer-focused design experience a plus. Communication Skills: • Superior communication skills with ability to communicate complex and detailed information in a consumable format. Reasoning Ability: • Strong analytical, prioritization and negotiating skills. Other Skills: • Passionate about building great products and solving customer and business problems. • Effective at close partnership and collaboration with engineering and program peers. • Internet, Call center systems and Point-of-Sale understanding and product roadmap experience preferred.
