Description: Responsible for evaluating the performance of existing Health Plan products and conceiving and leading the deployment of performance improvements, consistent with our overall organizational and product strategies. Provides project management leadership to the product lifecycle management efforts for Kaiser Permanente's Northwest region. Conducts complex analyses which support product performance targets. This position also provides consulting services regionally and nationally for initiatives within the scope of Product Management and any other responsibilities assigned by leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • In conjunction with senior leaders, establish performance goals for existing products. Identifies metrics for ongoing monitoring and assess products' actual performance (e.g. financial targets, membership targets, customer expectations, internal performance metrics, etc.). Summarize and communicate product performance to senior leaders and other audiences as appropriate. Provide thought leadership on product specific issues and strategy development. Influence cross-functional leaders to implement necessary changes to meet market demands- e.g. lifecycle management and identifying potential product enhancements.
  • Assess root cause of performance aberrations and recommend interventions to meet performance goals. Lead work teams of key constituents to ensure coordinated and timely achievement of product assessments/evaluations, product renewals and change deployment initiatives that support the product Marketing Strategy. Develop timelines and measures. Develop and initiate work plans. Prioritize work.
    Facilitate process and product improvements that support product strategies and organizational goals including development of marketing materials, rates, regulatory review processes, communication, and other processes necessary to manage products on an ongoing basis. Identify and eliminate barriers or disintegration of efforts.
  • Develops and implements training, support and outreach tools for internal stakeholders. Analyze the training needs of the organization and identify relevant training material / courses to address these needs.

    Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing complex projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in health care, business administration, or related field required OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Manage complex projects or multiple projects of moderate complexity.
  • Use judgment to create solutions to organizational problems and advise a course of action.
  • Use advanced verbal and written communications methods to convey concepts to team members and clients.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing complex projects in an area related to health care or product management.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience leading or managing people on projects.
  • Experience in management and business consulting. Master's degree in health care, business administration, or related field required OR two (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • Proven leadership skills in project management and consulting, including the following attributes: efficient, collaborative, candid, open and results-oriented. Proven ability to establish clear performance contracts and project budgets; manage a large/strategic project to achieve expected outcomes, on time, within budget; facilitate teams from all levels and of the organization, build teams, and resolve conflict. Identify key business issues and develop action plans from multi-disciplinary perspectives.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of current software, including spreadsheets, process mapping tools, project workplan tools, charts and graphs, and basic Microsoft applications.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of analytic techniques pertinent to planning, finance, and management engineering. This includes forecasting, sensitivity analysis, financial analysis such as NPV, decision analysis, cost-benefit/effectiveness and other economic analysis, and multi-variate statistical analysis. Conduct, interpret and present quantitative/qualitative analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (1:1, peer, team, presentations, written).
  • Ability to design and deliver formal training programs to staff and customers on advanced consulting and analytical tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage against multiple competing priorities of operational management customers and business process.
  • Proven ability to Develop fact-based, data-driven methodologies to help clients address strategic issues; solve complex problems; be assertive, objective and be able to confront clients with difficult issues; perform analyses to help client address strategic issues and achieve performance targets and influence strategic change in an organization.
