Responsibilities include: defining high-levelstrategy; driving global product planning, annual expense budgeting, andforecasting; allocating franchise resources; ensuring product launch execution;assessing market and competitive trends; cultivating KOL and key customerrelationships; market research; clinical and publication strategy planning; andsupport activities. The Sr. Director of Marketing isresponsible for hiring and managing the franchise marketing team and developingtalent of the group. Group leadershipinvolves creating and fostering a team culture across the franchise, and acrossother functional area and franchise groups to ensure an aligned commercialapproach. The Sr. Director of Marketing willoversee development and execution of franchise go-to-market strategies andprograms to support the US sales organization and OUS region, includingprograms to drive sales force readiness and achieve revenue targets for theorganization. He\/she will also buildstrong and deep global and regional relationships and knowledge in order tosignificantly increase market share for Smith & Nephew. Essential Functions Provides exceptional leadership tomarketing staff (including marketing managers and product specialists) to: \u2022 Achieveorganizational objectives \u2022 Maintainexemplary customer support \u2022 Developteam talent. Participates as key member of KneeLeadership Team to develop and execute strategic vision across the entireportfolio within the Knee Franchise. Develops and executes marketingplans for the franchise, including: \u2022 Planningand executing global launches \u2022 Leadingdevelopment of training and product support material with the ProfessionalEducation and Sales Training groups \u2022 Forecastingproduct needs with the Operations team to ensure adequate samples and launchinventory, as well as Life Cycle Management for legacy products to minimizeE&O and right-size SKU\u2019s. \u2022 Providingproduct expertise to the US and global sales organizations, regional marketingteams, and country managers as needed Develops the global product strategyand product plan for the franchise. Coordinatesfranchise needs with US sales leadership, regional and country marketing leads,and conducts voice of customer activities with KOL surgeons globally to developProduct Strategy and Global Product Plans. Manages worldwide surgeonconsultants and advisory boards. Assists senior management with theassessment of new and innovative technologies, business partnerships,acquisitions and any other related business ventures that fit within theassigned segment or product platform. Manages budgeted expenses for thefranchise. Responsible for developing and managing expenses for all upstreamand downstream marketing expenses in line with approved marketing budgets.\u00a0 Qualifications Requirements: Education: Bachelor\u2019s degree with major inmarketing or related business area is required. MBA is preferred. Experience: Ten (10) years of marketing andproduct management experience within the medical device industry and implantknowledge is preferred. A combination ofmarketing and sales management experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop andexecute a franchise strategy. Experience managing product P&L. Excellent communication andfacilitation skills, and experience managing KOL forums. Ability to influence at all levelsin an organization; excellent collaboration and negotiation skills. The Group has a history dating back 160 years to the family enterprise of Thomas James Smith who opened a small pharmacy in Hull, England in 1856. On his death in 1896, his nephew Horatio Nelson Smith took over the management of the business.A few days after the declaration of World War 1 in 1914, Horatio Nelson Smith (the nephew of the company founder T. J Smith) met with an envoy of the French President in London. The company was awarded a contract to supply £350,000 of surgical and field dressings, to be delivered in five months.
