The Challenge Ahead:
EA’s Digital Platform (EADP) organization is responsible for driving critical technology development and investments for EA on a global scale, supporting all divisions and studio teams. Technology and engineering leadership at EA is critical to making the industry’s best games and services and the EADP team is leading the way to providing cross-device capabilities and infrastructure that will keep our consumers connected with our games anytime, anywhere with anyone.
What a Sr. Director, Platform Product Management does at EA:
This person will partner closely with the technical product, program and engineering leaders across multiple domains to align on the right level of common process and practices for Product Management, and ensure those processes produce a comprehensive, compelling and integrated whole. They will coordinate and maintain the integrated view of capabilities, including establishing common nomenclature and reconciling service definitions and boundaries.
This role’s value multiplier is through orchestration and influence with partner teams, driving ‘one team’ vision, speaking with one voice, operating as one platform. They will craft the unified ‘voice of the platform’ and ensure each team speaks in unison, and the parts come together in harmony.
As Sr. Director, Platform Product Management you will
+ Partner deeply with Heads of Product and individual Product Managers across each of the EADP Domains and Service teams to integrate Product Capability definitions and roadmaps into a cohesive, unified Platform product roadmap. This role will produce and maintain the ‘roll-up’ roadmap across the individual teams and establish common framework and workflow for both internal planning and external views to be shared with customers.
+ Identify gaps or conflicts in capabilities, integration points, terminology, and work across product teams to reconcile. This role will work with teams to establish the format, taxonomy and mediums for managing and maintaining the official plan of record, of Products available for integration and use by customers, including their state of readiness/availability for use.
+ Coordinate across EADP domains to help drive cross-domain or cross-CTO product/capability initiatives. Collaborate with initiative leaders to understand long-term strategies as well as short-term goals to shape the product vision. Help develop KPIs for cross-domain initiatives.
+ Propose, refine and help develop product vision documents for new Product strategies. Document systems boundaries and capabilities. Conduct gap analysis and recommend changes to existing capabilities and systems. Identify, prioritize and propose new capabilities and systems required. Identify duplicate capabilities and systems and work with Domain and service owners to converge/eliminate those redundancies.
+ Conduct market research to understand the competitive landscape and market opportunity. Utilize results to inform greater EADP product platform strategy and timeline.
+ Define the documentation strategy and information architecture for Product overviews and integrator documentation. Provide requirements, set goals and review progress and output for developer documentation content, including dotted-line functional tasking of the Documentation team.
+ Drive common voice and structure for developer content elements of the Developer Portal and EADP voice to internal customers; ensure EADP content owners are delivering consistent high quality that tells a comprehensive and integrated story
+ Coordinate cross-domain efforts to unify and improve the game developer experience across Domains and Service teams. This includes mechanisms such as unified roadmap, developer newsletter/progress communication, integrated documentation strategies and nomenclature. Provide best in breed examples and guidance
+ Create executive level collateral, orchestrating and refining content and roadmaps from domain and content owners to produce synthesized and highly consumable views of broad platform strategies and activities. Present updates to senior leadership.
+ Coordinate and develop executive communications and presentations for CTO including: quarterly all hands content related to collective EADP product work; gathering key information and content for Board of Directors presentations and other cross-domain efforts and executive communications
The next great EASr. Director, Platform Product Managementneeds:
+ Minimum 10 years leading product management for complex, large scale digital solutions
+ Has directly managed individual products, through full lifecycle
+ Experience in leading or partnering with senior Product Managers, in direct, indirect, and/or matrixed reporting relationships
+ Incredible people skills and deep comfort in managing through influence and indirect authority
+ Deeply structured approach to product planning, construction and articulation, with emphasis on clarity and integration over strong individual opinion
+ Demonstrated people leadership in complex technology disciplines and highly matrixed accountability structures
+ Strong communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of management
+ Good understanding of HD and mobile gaming industry, development, platforms, and ecosystems
+ Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and partner/influence across complex organizations
+ Provide direct and indirect reports with mentoring, coaching, feedback, and performance reviews
+ Build sustainable relationships with appropriate contacts within EADP delivery teams, the wider EA organizations and external partners.
+ Perform special projects and departmental initiatives as needed
+ Collect, analyze and report on critical performance measures
