JOB SUMMARY

The Product Manager is the overall champion and steward for assigned products with responsibility for defining product requirements, launching new products, selling and go-to-market strategies, value propositions, product promotional content, price positioning and profitability. The Product Manager will set the strategic direction and champion customer value throughout solution(s) development transforming our 3D printer portfolio for next generation relevancy. This position will work on cross-functional teams with some of the best engineers, operations, marketing, and finance leaders to design, build, and roll-out solutions that deliver value to the customer.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Overall steward of product - champion Revenue/GM/Units/Market Share

Develop and own business plans and product roadmaps

Develop and maintain business and annual marketing plans to maximize 3D Systems profitability, promote the commercial value proposition, deliver localized messaging, and to drive additive manufacturing printing solutions business success

Develop MRDs (Marketing Requirements Documents), product/features priorities for new products and product enhancements; marketing leadership to move programs through a defined Phase-Gate process

Own customer experience marketing

Create reseller/customer product programs & strategies, working with Corporate & Regional Marketing

Product confidence testing - end user experience, use models, and solutions (to drive product enhancement and/or new product priorities)

Product collateral/web/promotional content and coordination with key Marketing service partners

Guidance for application development and review

Build Customer case studies, use cases, sales success stories; attend trade shows and visit key customers to build strong understanding of customer requirements

Collaborate on warranty & service strategy

Opportunity assessments for new products, product extensions, and markets

Oversight of product forecasting (medium/long term)

Lead competitive analysis/benchmarking/selling strategies

Develop product, presentations, training and tools for the sales team and channel

Gain a deep understanding of the business and enterprise 3D printing customer from core empathy to identify needs to insights to identify & define hardware solutions and associated experiences that meet customer needs and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience, and drive growth

Create buy in for a product vision both internally and externally as you communicate value for customers, accounts, and 3D systems; act as product evangelist to drive awareness and understanding

Develop product pricing, pricing configurators and positioning strategies

Work as core team member on cross-functional program teams to deliver new products within time-to-market schedules and budget constraints

Drive product launches and go-to-market plans in tight collaboration with WW marketing teams, PR teams, Region sales teams, and 3DS executives

Evaluate region-generated promotional plans to ensure they are consistent with product line strategy and that the value prop is effectively conveyed

Provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Bachelor's degree required; MBA desirable or relevant business management experience

EXPERIENCE

7-10 years in hardware product marketing experience, including future product management, lifecycle product management, product marketing, or related practical business or educational experience

Previous sales and/or technical marketing experience desirable

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Industry/domain experience in commercial and enterprise peripherals and printer product management or equivalent and the aggregation of hardware, software, connectivity and vertical market solutions

Familiarity with 3-D CAD software, 3D printers/printing, RP processes, common plastic and metal manufacturing processes, including plastic injection molding, casting and CNC machining desirable

Established track record in future product definition, development and launch

Proven ability to innovate, think creatively, apply solid business acumen, solve problems, manage risks, and take accountability for making decisions to move the solution forward

Experience and knowledge includes marketing experience, product management experience, familiar with product solutions, strong technical and sales skills, understanding of customer needs, broad knowledge of marketing and program implementation, knowledge of competitor's product offerings, knowledge of industry norms and opportunities, understanding of product life cycle, in depth knowledge and practice of marketing elements (product, pricing, promotion, and positioning)

Ability to develop and implement effective multi-level business strategies and tactics

Strong project/program management and team facilitation skills

Strong mathematical, financial, and analytical skills

Approaches problems in a rational manner using sound strategies that ensure comprehensive understanding and effective resolution

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Self-motivated, self-directed, driven and independent

Comfortable working in a matrix work environment with teams located in disparate geographies and cultures

Demonstrated teamwork & leadership to identify and, as needed, fill gaps to get the job done; creates an atmosphere of openness, trust, and collaboration

Demonstrated ability to communicate, train, and present across multiple functions, multiple regions, and multiple levels of management

Ability to work & communicate effectively in a technical environment optimizing solutions with engineering organizations to meet customer need on schedule, at cost etc.

Ability to travel up to 25% of time
