Technology Product Manager, Consumer Hardware

As a Technology Product Manager, you will be part of shaping Google's next moonshot.
The Technology Engineering team within Consumer Hardware strives to design, define and build component technologies that enable our devices to deliver the most intuitive, seamless and helpful user experiences. Technology innovation in audio, display, sensors, wireless, imaging, power, and battery are at the center of those efforts. You have a technical understanding of and experience working on technology subsystems in consumer electronics. In this role you, will drive deep hardware and software collaboration between the Technology Engineering teams, Product Engineering teams, technology vendors and Software teams across the company. You will define custom hardware that brings to life key features that distinguish our first party devices. You are able to work cross-functionally to assess and select the most critical problems to be solved through innovative technologies, build multi-year roadmaps that intersect our long term device strategy, and secure executive support for new technologies. You will also ensure each technology has a clear and approved path into a device, and drive internal stakeholder and partner engagements necessary to launch the final product on time.

Ideate and define innovative technology subsystems, features, and requisite software for first party devices; engage with Technology Engineering, Silicon Engineering, Product and Software product managers in multiple teams throughout development.
Drive technology roadmap in collaboration with Product Business, Silicon Engineering, Product and Software Product Managers to create true differentiation in first party devices; partner with product teams across Google to understand their vision, objectives and opportunities for strategic alignment.
Engage and collaborate with technology vendors to identify future technologies and evaluate readiness relative to internal product schedules.
Evaluate new applications, use cases, proof-of-concepts, technologies and standards, and advocate for/against adoption based on technology and system-level considerations.
Build business metrics for each technology relative to overall product/device plan to drive decisions on technology investment and pursuit.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of Product Management and/or Engineering experience in consumer electronics.
Experience with cross-functional teams including Software Engineering, Product Engineering, Industrial/Product Design, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Support, Partnerships, and Legal.
Experience with consumer product launches.
Master's in relevant technical field and/or Master of Business Administration.
Familiarity with consumer hardware development life cycles and ODM / CM working models.
Familiarity with computing and mobile operating systems and Software application development life cycles.
Technical, analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to champion initiatives internally and externally, and for effective communication with executive management and external partners.
